New: download entire image galleries!

So your best friend just posted a gallery of photos on Posterous from that awesome party you went to last weekend. Posterous creates a great gallery to view these pictures on the web, but what do you always want to do when you see photos you love? You want to download them. And not the dinky 50k versions, but the original ones. How else are you going to view them in HD on your Apple TV, or get them printed at your favorite camera store?

Now Posterous includes download links to the original images sent to us, and galleries of images are turned into a zip file. One click and the whole gallery is yours. We've always wanted this to be a feature on blog and photo sites, so here you go!

iPhoto2Gmail plugin makes it easy to post photos

Posting photos through email makes a ton of sense since there are dedicated "email" buttons built into applications like iPhoto and Picasa. These buttons create new mail messages with the photos attached, ready to be sent to your posterous site. You can use this feature if you use a desktop mail application like Mail.app or Thunderbird.

Webmail users like Gmail users don't get this integration. Until now. I just discovered the iPhoto2Gmail plugin (there's an Aperture2Gmail plugin as well).

Here's how easy it is to post photos from iPhoto to Posterous once you install iPhoto2Gmail:

1. Select the photos you want to post
2. Click "Export" then "iPhoto2Gmail"
3. Address it to post@posterous.com and hit send

That's it! Your photos will automatically get scaled and turned into an image gallery on your posterous page.
