Two New Tools for Bloggers: Zemanta and Blogsy

Since the introduction of Spaces, users questioned whether or not we would continue supporting bloggers and blogging in general. Rest assured that your Space can still be used as a blog and we intend to stay true to being the the easiest way to share publicly or privately!

Just in time for the Blogworld Expo in Los Angeles we are happy to announce two new tools that will help our strong community of bloggers: Zemanta and Blogsy.

Zemanta

Blog Smarter with Zemanta, your personal blogging assistant. 
Zemanta is a tool that helps you enrich your posts with relevant photos, information, and links in real time. Simply start typing and Zemanta will assist you with content recommendations right from within the Posterous post editor.

To install Zemanta: 

  1. Go to zemanta.com/download.
  2. Download the browser extension for the browser of your choice.
  3. Click on the extension while in the post editor to see content recommendations!

Blogsy

iPad blogging app Blogsy now supports Posterous Spaces.
Features include a WYSIWYG editor with drag and drop images from Flickr, Picasa, Google Image Search, and the built-in web browser. You can find it in the Apple App Store.

Sharing Content Via Email Takes a Big Step Forward: Posterous Leaps Into The Inbox

We’re not shy about our love for email.   Posting via email remains the dominant method to share content on Posterous, and why shouldn’t it be?  With Posterous, all you need to do is email post@posterous.com from any Internet connected device and you’re done.

Today, we are announcing a partnership with Hotmail that  makes sharing content via email even easier.   For the first time, all Hotmail users can interact directly with a Posterous Site - straight from the inbox.  No need to visit the site to read the latest comments or add one of your own.

Here's how it works:

You post your latest creation and your site visitors can comment just as they would normally.  Nothing new here!

Anyone who chooses to have your posts delivered to their @hotmail.com or @live.com address can now view the latest comments in the email and respond directly from their inbox.

We believe email IS the new email – it just needs some fresh thinking. Posterous users are posting via email, reading posts via email, sharing/commenting on posts via email and -  if they are on Hotmail -  everything can be done right from their inbox.

Interactive email on all platforms just makes sense. We think the folks at Hotmail got it right and look forward to working with them and other email providers to make email more interactive.
