Sifting through multiple posts to find the one with the information you need is, at best, a tedious task.  With today's launch of search in Posterous Groups, finding the right post just got a lot easier.  

Search results are displayed in the left panel indicating the number of times the search term appeared in your group's post.  Clicking on the post opens up each reply in which the term was mentioned on the right panel with the queried term highlighted.

Posterous Groups is an attractive and easy-to-use group collaboration tool allowing users to keep up to date with groups of friends, family, or co-workers through email as normal, but have it stored and accessible via Posterous. (It's sort of like a friendlier variation of Google Groups.) Images, video, other embeds and attachements are all accessible from a group's optionally private Posterous portal.

Instant email notifications are a great way to stay plugged into your group's activities, but a daily summary can be just fine too. Today, we've released a new daily digest option that summarizes your group's daily activity in a beautifully formatted email.  We make it easy to jump to the post you are most interested in and associate all replies with the original post so you won't miss a beat.

You can change from instant notifications to daily digest with just one click from the bottom of any group email.

You can also change your notification settings from the group itself.

And because everyone likes a little feedback, group members can now "like" any post directly in the group email or the group site.

With Posterous Groups, you receive an email whenever someone in your group posts an update.  So far, so good.  But what if you get that email and want to visit your group site from your mobile device?  We know you don’t have the patience to scroll incessantly just to read the latest update or leave the site to watch a video.  We don’t either.

Today we’re announcing Posterous Groups, a new service for communicating privately with your friends, family and colleagues.

Sharing privately with groups is broken right now - the default option remains the same as it was 10 years ago: Multi-attachment, inbox-cluttering emails. Other groups services have cropped up, but they are too complicated to set-up, handle rich media poorly and fall way short in the privacy department.  

Posterous Groups is the simplest way to communicate with your group.  Here’s how it works:

Creating a group is as simple as sending an email.  Just send an email to newgroup@posterous.com and you are off and running

No account sign up required.  This means no more waiting for Mom to complete the signup process; instead, just add her email address and she's in your group.  Every time you post to the group, she'll receive the full content as an email.  She can reply directly to your email and everyone in the group gets her update.

Brilliant handling of rich media.  To share photos, a video or audio file, just attach it to your email.  All photos are displayed in your emails without attachments and the group’s threaded web view will automatically host and embed videos, audio files  . . . any file that you send.  Just send it to Posterous Groups and it will do the right thing.

Private is the default option.  You have full control over who sees your photos and who participates in your group.

Don't take our word for it.  Give it a try.  You don’t even need to have a Posterous account - just email newgroup@posterous.com, include the name of your group in the subject line and the email addresses of the people you want to invite in the body of your mail.
