New: More control over autopost

We've been getting a ton of requests for this, so here you go. You can now autopost your Posterous posts to other sites right from the post page itself. Simply click the "Post to elsewhere" button on your post's page, and then click where you want the post sent.

This enables you to post via posterous@posterous.com, so it's not automatically autoposted, check the post online, edit it, get it just right, and then autopost it when you are ready. This also means if you have multiple blogs setup with Posterous, you can choose to post to just one of those.

Finally, when you create a new post on the website itself, there's an option under "More options" that lets you disable autopost for that post.

New: private posts on Posterous!

You can now create private posts on Posterous to share with just a select group of people. Simply email private@posterous.com. We'll reply back with a secret url that you can give to the people who you want to share that post with. You can also make a post private on the post editing screen.

This post won't show up on your public Posterous site, or in your RSS feed. And if you have Autopost set up, private posts will NOT be autoposted to your other sites.

As always, send feedback and questions to help@posterous.com.

Control where your content is posted

Thanks for all the feedback about our new Autopost feature. We're really excited about being the gateway for you to post your content to all the services you use on the web.

Now you can control which posts get posted to the other services by emailing your posts to different email addresses. Just send your posts to:

post@posterous.com : posts are posted to your posterous, as well as any flickr and twitter accounts registered with us

posterous@posterous.com : posts are posted to your posterous but not on the other services

twitter@posterous.com : posts are posted to your posterous and twitter accounts are updated

flickr@posterous.com : posts are posted to your posterous and photos are pushed to flickr

Happy posting!

New on Posterous: Control your download links

By popular demand, we've updated the way we show download links for images, AND we've added a new way for you to edit whether or not download links show up at all.

If you're a casual user posting photos of your friends, it's great to be able to let your friends download, print, and save your files. But if you're a content creator and you're worried about protecting your copyright from downloads, we want to make sure you can turn off these download links too.

If you'd like to edit this setting, click the "edit site" link on your account manage page.
