Post an image gallery by emailing a zip file

Want an image gallery out of that folder of images on your desktop? Just turn the folder into a zip and email it to Posterous. If we get a zip file that contains multiple images (and only images), we'll turn the images into a gallery and provide a download link to your original zip file. Easy!

Tip: On a Mac you can turn files or folders into a zip by right clicking on them and selecting "compress"

hallelujah! No more praying that my gmail doesn't crash before my 9 pictures get sent.

Is there a limit to the # of pictures we can send?

There's no limit to how many pictures we'll take, but your email provider may limit the size of your email. At a fairly large image size I've been able to send 50 or more. Try it out and let me know if you have any problems.

I'm doing something wrong (or have included too many images). Sending the zipped file to flickr@posterous.com posted only my text. Sending the zipped file to post@posterous.com also posted only my text.

Attaching the photographs the old fashioned way got that BEAUTIFUL and totally simple image gallery.

Is 21 a huge number of photographs to upload? The zipped folder is "only" 3.4MB.

Thanks for the note! We found an issue in decoding some zip files that was preventing them from showing up as galleries. This should be fixed now. Let me know if you have anymore problems. Thanks!

Is this feature going to be available for other formats, too? Like, for mp3 or other multimedia?

Is there a way to organize galleries? I.e. if I am forced to break up my pictures (send them in separate emails) can I merge them back together so that a trip can be a single gallery?

It doesn't work for me. I used the Windows XP bult-in zipper, and zipped only images, but no gallery. help! :( It's about 2MB.
