Pages 2.0: Add links to your sidebar.

We take feedback from our users very seriously at Posterous. Since the launch of pages last month, we have received a lot of suggestions.

With that in mind, we have rethought pages to add two new powerful features:

  1. Links. Add static links to other sites, and put these links in the sidebar of your blog. Now that we allow you to put links in your sidebar, you can add a blogroll, a resources section, or a list of your relatives' blogs.
  2. Collections. We didn't stop with links. We also allow you to create link collections so you can keep your links organized.

Here is an example of a collection in the sidebar of a Posterous site:

We have also revamped the editing interface for pages. You can now create pages or links in any collection. We have automatically created two collections for you: Navigation, and Sites I Like. Any pages or links in the Navigation collection will appear as top level navigation on your site (just like it did with the original pages feature). Any pages or links you put in Sites I Like, or any other collection you create, will appear in your site's sidebar.

Here is what the new editor interface looks like:

As always, we appreciate your feedback. If you have any suggestions or issues with these new features, please don't hesitate to email us at help@posterous.com.

Note about themes
All built-in themes automatically have support for links and collections. If you have created a custom theme for your site, or if you are planning to create a new theme, please read the updated theming reference for the new theme elements. Specifically, check out {block:HasLinks}, {block:LinkCategories}, and {block:Links}.
