New on Posterous: Control your download links

By popular demand, we've updated the way we show download links for images, AND we've added a new way for you to edit whether or not download links show up at all.

If you're a casual user posting photos of your friends, it's great to be able to let your friends download, print, and save your files. But if you're a content creator and you're worried about protecting your copyright from downloads, we want to make sure you can turn off these download links too.

If you'd like to edit this setting, click the "edit site" link on your account manage page.

Getting better everyday indeed. Thanks!

I found the image a bit confusing as it suggests you'll find the control under your post or gallery. To find the control follow the "a new way for you to edit" link above or click on "Manage" then "Edit my posterous ยป" to get to the "Edit Site Details" page.

Pony: ability to turn this on/off on individual images or galleries.

YUP Better everyday!
Hey can it be set eventually to "Per Post"?

Garry are playlists or favoriting in the works as well? Some really awe-inspiring posts seem to get buried in the many subscriptions (well not that many ), / posts.

Thanks Posterous is Great!

thanks for introducing this feature.

Look forward the day, I am able to control which individual post my visitors can view without them the need to register for a posterous account.

Thanks for adding this feature. It saves me the trouble of sending individual pics to people.

Nice example photo too... ;^)

Thanks, Chris. The links broke because we moved those pages since this post was created 5 months ago (wow, has it been that long!)

I cleaned it up now.
