New: download entire image galleries!

So your best friend just posted a gallery of photos on Posterous from that awesome party you went to last weekend. Posterous creates a great gallery to view these pictures on the web, but what do you always want to do when you see photos you love? You want to download them. And not the dinky 50k versions, but the original ones. How else are you going to view them in HD on your Apple TV, or get them printed at your favorite camera store?

Now Posterous includes download links to the original images sent to us, and galleries of images are turned into a zip file. One click and the whole gallery is yours. We've always wanted this to be a feature on blog and photo sites, so here you go!

Cool! And it's also a good approach that you take: putting features that you always wanted but not available elsewhere.

Very nice! Both elegant in design and useful in function. You guys do great work. I really enjoy Posterous.

What if someone posts a photo of theirs that is copyright protected and doesn't want anyone downloading it?

We're working on controls around whether the download link is shown. This goes for both mp3's and photos-- it's important that you'll be able to control who can download what files.

Agree, that would be an important feature - but glad you thought of it.

Now *that's* something we can all use. It's probably the most-hated feature on most every photo site!

Got a feature request : could we have an RSS-button on the 'my subscriptions" page ?

Gary - if you did RSS, wouldn't that allow Friend Feed to capture the posts? That would be a nice thing.

Bill -- we do support RSS for your personal posterous (see the little rss icon next in your sidebar). We're also working on Media RSS support so that it will properly provide metadata for podcasts and photos.

La tête près du bérêt -- RSS for subscriptions! I really want this feature myself. Will get to it soon. It's getting hard to read 2000 blogs otherwise. ;-)

Weekee -- thanks for this. Keep the feedback coming. It absolutely helps to understand what we should be working on next.

Adam -- LOL. ESPN.

Garry,

Thanks.
Great thing anyway, this posterous :-)
Really love it.
