The cool thing about posterous is that images are made to galleries and PDFs made to embedded Flashthings.
What happens, with this stuff on the WP-side?
Does someone have a demo-Post that shows how a posterous post with richmedia looks in WP?

BTW: Dont you want to make your service a (paid) plugin for wordpress? Or a Service that is specialized with wordpress?
I love the idea of posterous but cannot move away from wordpress since it gives me much more flexibility with plugins and templates.

@Tobias: when you autopost to WP, you don't get an image gallery but all the images are placed inline. Since WP limits what flash and javascript we can post, we leave the flash out and provide download links to audio and video items.

We are focussing on making Posterous the best web publishing platform out there. While wordpress does have great plugins and templates, it's not something most people can figure out and use. I can't ever imagine my mom creating a wordpress site. I'm tech savvy, and even I shudder at having to use Wordpress to publish online.

We did autopost so that existing WP users can benefit from Posterous without having to switch over completely, but our real goal is to bring web publishing to the billion people out there who know and understand email. Publishing online should be easy, fun, and use the tools you already know; not hard work.

Sachin, i'm not sure what you mean since Utterli.com autoposts Flash video and audio to self-hosted WP sites just fine. Plus I thought that functionality was something you guys were going after. Maybe I misunderstood.

@thepete: yes it's the self hosted ones that allow flash, not the ones on wordpress.com. We will be adding support for adding our flash players in autopost eventually.

@Sachin I really hope to see the Flashplayer support. That's cause I just posted 34 images via Posterous to my self-hosted WP blog and wow, that's a whole long list of inline images. :P

The gallery post in WP would be great. Has there been any further progress on this?

How do you avoid the duplicate content created when I autopost to my blog and the same email is posted to my posterous blog?
Sep 25, 2009
Sachin Agarwal said...
Easy solution! Just get rid of your other blog!!

Not exactly a viable solution. I consider Posterous a 'tool' to facilitate posting to my regular blog. I guess I will have to make my posterous blog private, which is a shame.
