Add tags fast from the bookmarklet and post editor

New mini-update: We redid the tag editor so that now you can add/edit tags from the post editor and the bookmarklet too. Just hit "More post options" or "Advanced options" and type away.

I love the way that after typing a comma the tag is automatically created and you can carry on typing: tag comma tag comma etc.; this is great, SO much easier.

However, if you paste a text string with tags and commas (I keep certain basics at hand to copy and paste) then this doesn't happen, which is a great shame, and only the first word prior to the first comma is made a tag. Please fix this, it would be a very helpful feature.

Greg -- I've fixed pasting tags with commas. Should work fine now. Give it a shot and let me know if you have any problems.

Question:
I've noticed my Blogger autopost crapping out whenever there's a tag attached to a posterous post that isn't in Blogger's system.  It screams "Error 403, Invalid Category"
Is it possible to override that and get the new tags posted in there?

Thank you for this much-needed feature. However, on Safari (Mac), whenever I type a word, the first letter is set as a tag all by itself, and the rest as another tag. For example, if I type "orange", I get two tags, "o" and "range". Keep up the great work, Posterous is the best web tool out there.

This also happens to me in Chrome in Vista. Type the first letter, and it becomes a separate tag, which means I'm forever hitting the backspace key to rectify things. It really is rather odd.

Hi, I would like to repeat the notice of @Greg Wallis:

"... if you paste a text string with tags and commas (I keep certain basics at hand to copy and paste) then this doesn't happen, which is a great shame, and only the first word prior to the first comma is made a tag. Please fix this, it would be a very helpful feature."

And also - is it posible if we add tags, which already have been used, the system to show the word suggestion? So this will be very helpful , users don't have to write 1000 times the same tag words, that they often use...

And one more proposal - if you create a blog Archive and Tag cloud widgets will be very useful for users easy to find old blog posts trough Archive and Tag cloud...
Best regards!
Boris:-)

So far, so good – but now I can't add tags anymore that I've used before. For example, the tag "London", which appears several times under my posts, won't work anymore. I just can't add it; it won't be accepted. Sigh.

same problem here, i used to be able to type a few letters of a tag, it would show up below and i'd hit RETURN. now it doesn't work.

Yes, it's broken. You can no longer use tags you've used previously. Mighty strange.

Tags are very useful-- i use them on my autoposted site to classify posts to the correct section so they get posted correctly!
