A Search Box for Your Posterous

We've been hard at work completely rewriting our search system so that now you have your own search box on your posterous. You don't even have to lift a finger. It's there automatically. Shown below is featured posterous website mayisuggest.org -- if you're searching for fun, that's a great place to start your search.

This is also a great time to check out what other people are posting. We've revamped search there too, so take it for a spin.

Questions? Comments? Bug reports? As always, you can email us at help@posterous.com. We always want to hear about what you'd like to see on posterous next.

It's nice and unobtrusive.
I assumed when I first noticed it that you had some clever system where you automatically added the search box after x-amount of posts, because with only a few pages worth of posts, a search box is really just clutter.
Consider that a suggestion, maybe :)

@Foomandoonian Good idea. One option would be if we only show it when there are 10 or more posts.

It's a tough call because at the same time, you want to make it obvious to new users that search is available, and works by default with no extra work.

This is a good candidate for AB testing to see what people really want.

pretty nice!
regarding "clutter" .. well, the "sidebar" is quite empty anyway, so putting a search inside that doesn't really add any clutter imo.

A/B testing(or not) says you got it right the first time. Posterous does search. Rock on.

Hmmm, is it possible that search is broken? It doesn't seem to return anything from my new Posterous. It does return global Posterous results though.
